Democratic Party Announces Nomination Procedure for Special Election in 70th House of Delegates District
The Democratic Party will choose its nominee for the Special Election in the 70th House of Delegates District via an unassembled caucus (also known as a firehouse primary). The Caucus will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Richmond and Chesterfield voters in the 70th District will caucus at 31st Street Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st Street, Richmond, Virginia.
70th District voters who reside in Henrico County will caucus at the Math & Science Innovation Center, 2401 Hartman Street, Richmond, VA.
All Democratic voters who reside in the 70th House of Delegates district are urged to participate in this caucus. Participation will involve completing a form affirming that the voter is a Democrat, and marking a secret ballot indicating the voter’s preference for the Democratic Nomination. There is no fee for voters to participate and the process should take only a few minutes.
The winner of the caucus will be the official Democratic Nominee for the January 6, 2009 special election. This special election is required to fill the seat vacated by Delegate Dwight Jones, who resigned his position in the House of Delegates after being elected Mayor of Richmond.
